Overview
The Wisemans Creek project is centred around the town of Oberon in Central NSW and consists of four exploration leases (EL8554, EL9239, EL9244 and EL9249), covering an area of 496km2.
The tenements have the potential for a range of mineral systems including Orogenic gold, VMS, Porphyry Cu – Au and Polymetallic Skarns. Precious and base metals have historically been mined from various deposits throughout the leases.
Geological Setting
The Wisemans Creek project is located in the Rockley – Gulgong Volcanic belt and consists of volcanics and sediments of the Ordovician – early Silurian aged Macquarie Arc and younger sediments of the early Devonian Hill End trough. Late Carboniferous intrusions, including the Tarara Granite form an arcuate belt in the northern part of the tenements.
Mineralisation occurrences across the project area are highly varied, with historical mining and exploration of epithermal Au – Ag, orogenic Au, porphyry Cu – Au, skarn hosted Cu – Au and volcanic hosted massive sulphides hosting Cu – Pb – Zn – Au and Ag. Skarn deposits are associated with contact between granites and sediments.
