Archean Gold exploration in the Norseman-Wiluna Greenstone Belt

Overview
The Kurnalpi project is located in the eastern part of the Norseman – Wiluna Greenstone Belt, Eastern Goldfields Province of the Archean Yilgarn Craton, 70km NE of Kalgoorlie. The project consists of one exploration lease (E 28/2294) covering an area of 9.81km2.
The project area is highly prospective for gold mineralisation as indicated by high grade gold values up to 17.5 g/t returned from rock chips and a strong N-S gold anomaly in soils consistent with the coincidental N-S trending Success Shear.
Geological Setting
The project area is dominated by a N-NW trending greenstone belt with a sequence of ultramafic, mafic, intermediate and acid intrusive and extrusive volcanic rocks with associated sediments. Flanking the belt are major Archean intrusive granitic bodies.
Structurally the area is dominated by a number of NW and N trending fault / shear systems and folds. In the Kurnalpi area the dominant structure is the NW Avoca Shear Zone that dips to the west. Bedrock gold mineralisation is associated with the Avoca Shear Zone and with cross cutting NE faults. Gold derived from the bedrock structures has entered the alluvial sequences and was a major source of the gold produced during the active mining period at Kurnalpi.
Project Timeline
393 ultrafine samples covering the entire lease. Strong N-S anomalous gold trend identified.
15 samples collected from around the old workings. Gold values up to 17.5 g/t.
Two diamond holes testing the Success Shear and old workings.
