Overview
Orange Minerals NL has a farm in joint venture with Godolphin Resources on the Calarie project, which covers the tenements EL8555, EL8580 and ML739. The project is located immediately north of Forbes in central NSW and contains many historical gold mines and occurrences as well as the significant Calarie Mine.
Gold mineralisation at the Calarie Mine is orogenic (structurally controlled) along the extensive NNE trending Parkes – Forbes belt or Parkes Fault. The deposits are hosted in strongly deformed linear belts of Ordovician volcanics and predominantly occur close to the volcanic / sediment contact.
Geological Setting
The Calarie project is located in the N-S trending Forbes – Parkes belt, which forms part of the Junee – Narromine Volcanic belt. The area is dominated by two main rock types – the Parkes and Nash Hill Ordovician volcanics and younger Ordovician – Silurian intermediate volcanics, sediments and cherts.
The mineralisation styles within the project area are dominated by orogenic gold deposits. These deposits are mostly spatially associated with faults belonging to the Parkes Fault system and contacts between the Ordovician andesitic rocks and fine-grained sediments belonging to the Cotton Formation.
Project Timeline
10 RC holes (1044m) targeting the Calarie deposit in ML739.
5 Diamond holes (1170m) testing the Calarie deposit at depth in ML739 and EL8580.
